Reactive aluminas are specially designed for the production of high performance refractories where defined particle packing, rheology and consistent placement characteristics are as important as the superior physical properties of the final product. Reactive aluminas are fully ground down to the primary (single) crystals by highly efficient grinding processes. The average particle size, D50, of mono-modal reactive aluminas, is therefore nearly equal to the diameter of their single crystals. The combination of reactive aluminas with other matrix components, such as tabular alumina 20μm or spinel 20μm, allows the control of the particle size distribution to achieve the desired placement rheology.
Reactive aluminas from sub-micron to 3 micron particle size. Particle size distributions, ranging from mono-modal to bi-modal and multi-modal, allow full flexibility in formulation design and provide the convenience of co-milled engineered reactive aluminas.
The reactive alumina micro-powders, made through specially sintering process, grinding process and multistage power size separation, has high purity, good particles size distribution and excellent sintering activity, which is suitable for the application in the production of high performance refrac-tory material, and electronic ceramics products .The reactive alpha alumina micropowerd can be well controlled in particle size distribution in the range of submicron, leading to be with excellent grain packing density good rheological property and stable workability as well as good sintering activity, which play an unique role in refractory:
1. By optimizing the particle accumulation to reduce the addition amount of water
2. The wear resistance and mechanical strength are improved by forming a solid ceramic bonding phase;
3. The high-temperature performance of the product is improved by replacing the ultra-fine powder with low refractoriness.
Reactive a-alumina micro-powders can be used in ladle castables, BF trough castables, purge plugs, seat blocks, alumina self-flow castables, and gunning mixes as well, which are produced with reference to standards of a Transnational Corporation. These powders have low impurity,reasonable particle size distribution and reactivity, give castables good flowability, less dilatancy,proper working time, dense structure and excellent strength, and
have been exported to Japan,USA, and Europe.
